Both by day and night, the most spectacular views of St. Petersburg can be seen from the water. The marvelous panoramas of the Hermitage Museum, squares, and embankments. The city was built over 42 islands, so St. Petersburg is surrounded by water and interlaced with a complex web of rivers and canals that seem to bind the city together, while also marking the borders of its different districts and neighborhoods. 

The slow ride by Nikolsky cathedral bell tower, or through the tunnels of wide bridges, or under the glass walkway of Mariinsky theatre, where the light is barely seen on the other side, truly is a fantastic experience you will remember. Some excellent vistas of the city are only visible from the water. Therefore an essential part of any exploration of the city is to get on a boat and cruise the rivers and canals of St. Petersburg.
