A Special Option of Stockholm tour for cruise passengers whose ships dock in Nynashamn! • City Hall
  • Vasa museum
  • Gamla Stan

Stockholm city hall can be seen from the embankments and bridges of the Gamla Stan. The elegant brick structure appeared at the beginning of the 20th century on the spit of the Kungsholmen island. The city hall is a venue for the Nobel Prize banquet and the symbol of Stockholm. The yard of the city hall is open for the visits, and the building can be visited with the pre-booked tour. The bell tower has the observation spot with the beautiful panorama of Gamla Stan and the Royal Palace.

Vasa is a giant Swedish warship built between 1626 and 1628 to become the flagship and the pride of Sweden. The ship foundered after sailing about 1,300 m (1,400 yds) into her maiden voyage on 10 August 1628. She was located in the late 1950s in a busy shipping lane just outside the Stockholm harbor. Salvaged with a largely intact hull in 1961, it was eventually moved to the Vasa Museum in Stockholm. Vasa is one of the most popular attractions of Sweden and one of its main symbols. It is also the world's most significant 17th-century sailer.

1,5 hour

Gamla Stan or The Town Between the Bridges is Stockholm's old town, located on Stadsholmen island. This is the oldest part of the city, dating to the 13th century, so Gamla Stan is a labyrinth of the charming narrow streets with old houses, numerous restaurants, and souvenir shops. The Royal Palace, Nobel Museum, Stortorget square, and many other sites are hidden inside the Gamla Stan. Old town is an excellent place for the walk when you can feel the spirit of the medieval city. You can find no transport on the Gamla stan, but the island is tiny, it takes no longer than 10 minutes to cross in any direction.

Detailed Program

Time Description
Meeting time: Specified by your manager after booking
00:00 - 00:45

Meet your professional English-speaking guide and driver OUTSIDE the main port gate and depart for Stockholm. Average drive time is 45 minutes.

Important: Please note that waiting time for late passengers is maximum 15 minutes.

00:45

Our first stop is at the most popular viewpoint, from where we have a splendid panoramic view of the city. Overlooking a few of the 14 islands, which Stockholm is founded upon, the Old Town as well as the Vasa Museum and City Hall (photo stop only, no inside visit) which is renowned for its architecture  and for being the site of the Nobel Prize Banquet.

The Vasa Museum is located on an island referred to as Royal Djurgården. It is the Stockholmers most beloved recreational area and home to the city’s amusement park, the open-air museum Skansen, the playhouse of Astrid Lindgren “Junibacken” and much much more. The Vasa Museum displays the Swedish warship Vasa, which could be considered Sweden’s greatest failure but is today instead one of our greatest success stories. Vasa sank on her maiden voyage, in Stockholm’s inner harbour, in 1628. After 333 years at the bottom of the sea the Vasa was salvaged and stands before us 95% intact

We will also reserve some free time for individual exploring of Gamla Stan (Old City Island) and a quality coffee break in the itinerary to give you a gratifying experience of the city of Stockholm before heading back to the cruise harbor.

05:15 - 06:30 Drive back to the port of Nynashamn
06:30 The tour ends back in the harbour, where you can comfortably board your ship.
